Title: Your Hobbiton
Post by: frodomyhero on May 28, 2005, 11:27:06 am

Well I was driving home today and looked at the lovely place where I live and decided I'm going to take a photo of it becasue it so reminds me of Hobbiton... The woods, fields and the mountains..the river that runs near to my house.. yes it's my Hobbiton.
I just don't know how to post it.
BUT .. if anyone else can post their photos of the place they feel is their special Hoobiton... well let's see.. I'm so anxious.
And I'll try to figure out how to post mine from my computer.

Frodomyhero: Information on how to post pictures is explained HERE (http://always.ejwsites.net/YaBBSE/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=861)

Moving this thread to Misc, because it doesn't have to do with Elijah.

Would you consider an apartment living in Bree? :-\

I used to live in a hobbiton, but in the emotional sense rather than physical. Then I moved here. It's sorta... yeah, like Bree. But I get to go back to hobbiton this summer!

Actually, come to think of it, I used to live in Rivendell. Infact yes I can post pictures of my Rivendell. :)

Since my house was so close up on the mountains, this hike was just a walk down the street a ways and up into a hiking trail. Every time I passed around this river when we hiked I played the song in the Two Towers soundtrack where Arwen leaves Rivendell with the other elves during the night and it's just beautiful. So fitting.

And here's the East view that was just outside the front door.

And the West view you could see at the back of the house, which was always gorgeous in the sunset.

Well I live in Hertfordshire in England, and I think that Tolkien based parts of Hobbiton down around here. I may be wrong, it's one of those word of mouth things.

Right across the road from me is a little field called the spinny and it's my Hobbiton, I love it. it has a little stream and has little hidey holes. Much like the Common which is 2 minutes away from my front door. It's sooo amazing. I always think of it being my Hobbiton when I'm there.

You all live in really beautiful places... you are so lucky girls!!!

These are mine. They all belong to the place where I live in the South of Spain. I hope you will like them...

This is the old area of the city; it could be Bree...

These are the mountains which surround the city.
In Winter, they could be the Karadras...

And in Spring; I think they look a lot like The Shire...

And this is the most typical monument in my city... it could be like Edoras...

You have all posted such beautiful pictures!! :D I guess it's my turn now. ;)

I live not far from where Tolkien lived and that's where I studied as well.
Two pics from the place where I studied:

It's quite funny because that town has a Tolkien Bus Route and Tolkien Trail, I read about it two years ago.

The town where I live with my mum is about an hour away from there. :)

What a wonderful topic! And i am so enjoying your beautiful pics of your own personal Hobbitons. ;D

I live in rural Quebec, and am definitely smack dab in the middle of my Hobbiton. I'll post a few pics now, and more later when I get them. I am forever seeing LOTR in the nature around me. That is one of my fave things about Tolkien's writings - his detailed and loving description of the natural world of Middle Earth.

Our chickadee friends...they remind me of Hobbits..small, bright, sturdy, friendly, brave and with a lovely chirpy song...

Lovely pictures Annouille
Do you live in the "Bretagne"?
Specially the one with the house on the island. Thats not somewhere on the "īle-de-brehat"
I was round Paimpol, Ploubazlanec, Perros-Guirec many times. Its so wonderful there.
The traditional costumes just look like Breton ones.

Title: Re:Your Hobbiton
Post by: Annouille on June 07, 2005, 07:11:59 am

Yes, I'm Breton, my origins are near Quimper. The Traditionnal Costumes are of Quimper in the south of Britanny,
the Forest is Huelgoat the most beautifull and magic forest than Brocelliande.

I don't live in Britanny :'( :'( but I hope a day and for holliday I always go in Britanny for dancing.
For the House many houses are on the coasts like that.

PS : We have 2 towns, the names are Meriadec and Rohan, but I don't have pics.

You know Nettie, when we were going to get the tickets to go up to the top of the tower.. I stopped just briefly and looked at my family and felt a thought "what if terrorists blew up the downstairs again( remember they had already blown up the garage before)" and the thought was there, then passed.. but when I heard days after I just broke down and cried .. was it a premenition? I do have them from time to time... less now then when I was younger..

We did not have TV at the time so I never saw the unending repeats of the airplanes going into the Toweres and then them falling down.. But what struck me was the tension in the air around where we lived.. you see one of the planes passed over the Catskills(from Boston) to get to the Twin Towers and when they declared no airplaness (except for the Saudis) in the air , it was eeriely quiet .. so quiet..
