No Seyma, the trailer and effects do not look good to me. About as bad as the effects in Titanic and King Kong. I for one will not be watching it. But I am glad to hear you liked it :)

It is the same director who did Titanic and Avatar.
Skydreamer, Titanic is still the biggest success, lol I think it was Darknight who almost beat Titanic in the box office, but other than that no.

Anyways,
I Loved avatar! It was amazing! Graphics, effects, everything. The plot was very well written and moral of it. I thought it was going to be gay But I change my mind completely!
The main character guy who goes into the world...when he is blue....(I forgot what their called) wow. :P

Actually, Avatar have allready made more money than Titanic.

I think it was a really beautiful movie! I saw it in 3D, which I think you should see it in. The 3D-effects gives the screen a wonderful depth and it almost feels like you're sitting in the middle of the forest sometimes.

And I think there's lots of great symbolizm in it too. The thought of everything being connected and how humans greed destroys it.

looks like titanic beat Oscar nominations by two according to 'the sun' avatar is nominated for 9 where as Titanic got 11. I may consider watching avatar when is released on DVD, but not at the cinema. making money at the box office is not what attracts me to see a film, no matter how much it makes. I sometimes prefer independent and low budget films as opposed to big blockbusters. Even lord of the rings effects are looking ropey now, never thought I would say that. CGI is the worst thing that can really make a film crap in my opinion if used to much.

Your opinion is interesting Elizabeth, as it's at odds with the five star reviews given by most film critics.

Interesting too coz just this past weekend my daughter (who saw Avater in the cinema) begged me to buy the dvd... and one of my best friends raved about how great it was... yet my son also gave it an unenthusiastic "meh".

Guess I'll just have to see for myself...

I tend not to listen to reviews but like to make my own mind up on if I like a film or not :)

I must confess I must be one of the few people who did not like this movie. I found the story was too predictable... and similar to other ones like 'Dancing with wolves' for example.
It was a bit disappointing for me.

I believe you have to watch it in a cinema with 3D-glasses to get the full effect. Even if the story is a bit "Pocahontas in space", would I say it is worth watching just to see the beauty. Most of the movie is just effects, but if you see it in 3D is it totally worth it.

Well, in fact I watched it in 3D... And in my opinion when effects are the most remarkable aspect of a movie... that is a bad thing for me about the movie...

Same here Enara - movies totally reliant on special effects - come on guys!! No not for me. Movies that require some special effects are ok
Movies without any special effects are even better :)
