Title: Carrie
Post by: Tigerlily1419 on April 07, 2004, 10:20:56 pm

I could have sworn that there was a topic on this, but I searched and didn't find anything. So, has anyonen else seen Carrie?

The new one or the old one? I just saw the old one again two weeks ago. (Brian de Palma's)

Carrie's mother is the freakiest woman ever: "I can see your dirty pillows..." One of King's best.

Either or. I saw the remake when it first came up. That just freaked me out when the guy was killing the pig with the mallet without remorse, even though everyone around him was cringing. That just grossed me out.

Yeah, I know. Her mom was like psychotic in the sense that she was just so into her religion that she tried to kill her daughter because she thought that was what she should do.

Really good film. Didn't expect the ending. Her mother was so freaky.

I've seen the old film once, yes. I didn't even know about a newer version.

I don't remember the film terribly well. I just remember a freaky girl - Carrie - and the very beginning of the movie. The shower scene. Ooooh dear... how i cringed. Oh and i remember when they went to the dance too which i think was kinda near the end. But i don't remember much else. It was late and i think i kept drifting off to sleep and missing important parts.

Random piece of trivia, Carrie's mum was one of the teachers in The Faculty. Anyhoo...

I watched Carrie 2 a few months back. God that was baaaad.

I read the book one day when I was about 12. Then, lo and behold, the movie was on later that night. Freaked the hell out of me and I can't read or watch either of them again. Weird, because I'm not the type to be scared or freaked out. Maybe because it was in my head all day.

I was really into all of those Stephen King novels when I was about 14. The scariest one to me was Pet Sematary--the movie was creepy too.

My dad's got that book (among a ton of other Steven King novels) and it looks really creepy. Which Steven King novels have you read?

Rai, what was Carrie 2 about?

I'm not entirely sure, I think it was about her friends daughter who also has telekenetic powers. It was hard to keep track of what was going on.

If you liked the film you should read the book - absolutely brilliant! Stephen King is a genius *thumbs up*

The original film is much better than the one Sky One did recently. Carrie is NOT naturally a pretty girl, and the first film got that as did the book.

Jackie.

What age was Sissy Spacek when she played Carrie? She was way older than the character wasn't she?

Oh boy, what didn't I read from Stephen King during that time? Let's see...there was Cujo, the Dead Zone, The Shining, Christine, Carrie, Pet Sematary, I think Salem's Lot, a couple books of short stories, I forget the names, that Gunslinger series that he partially wrote with Peter Straub. I lost interest around Monkeyshine. Then I really got into Peter Straub, who wrote Ghost Story, one of the scariest books I have ever read--the movie is good too.

Now I just watch movies based on King's novels--Dolores Claiborne, Misery, Rose Red, that "Give me what I want and I'll go away" TV movie. There's also that new series set in a hospital based on King's work.

Sorry if some of this is wrong--it would take too long to look up all the details.

By the way, I think that Sissy Spasek was a homecoming queen in real life, but she has real strong acting skills so pulled off the Carrie roll very well.
