Title: Saturday Night Live
Post by: uNblessed Citrus on March 24, 2004, 12:03:41 pm

I LOVE SNL! It's one of my favorite all time shows. My favorite episode is the one with Ben Affleck (the first one he hosted). The skit at the car dealership was so funny it almost brought me to tears. Maya Rudolph is my favorite cast member, other than Tina Fey :).

So, who else loves Saturday Night Live?

I was a fan back in the 90's, I just feel like they repeat them self too much BUT sometime they still do have some funny clips. I am not a MAD TV fan

**Fix up... I meant to write I am more of a MAD TV FAN. I guess I had too many thoughts running through my head. what can I say I am crazy.**

I hardly watch SNL anymore just because I don't watch much late-TV but when I did a few years ago, I looooved it. Celebrity Jeopardy anyone? OMG..that was the best skit ever. :D Now I like Weekend Update because Jimmy Fallon is my lurver.

Signature, Baby. ;D

I love SNL. I started watching my senior year in high school when I didn't feel like going to sleep on Saturday nights. I loved watching the old episodes on Comedy Central, but they don't have them anymore! Boo!

My favorite sketch ever has to be Steve Martin's Holiday Wish.

"If I had one wish that I could wish this holiday season, it would be that all the children to join hands and sing together in the spirit of harmony and peace. If I had two wishes I could make this holiday season, the first would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing in the spirit of harmony and peace. And the second would be for 30 million dollars a month to be given to me, tax-free in a Swiss bank account. You know, if I had three wishes I could make this holiday season, the first, of course, would be for all the children of the world to get together and sing, the second would be for the 30 million dollars every month to me, and the third would be for encompassing power over every living being in the entire universe. And if I had four wishes..." and so on and on. Fantastic.

This skit was hilarious!!! With the whole windshield washer fluid thing and all. Well, you know what I'm talking about..

Anyway, yes I have been a fan of SNL since I can remember. I remember watching old SNL when I was young, Steve Martin and all.

But my all time favorite SNL skit has to be the VH1 Behind the Music: Blue Oyster Cult. Christopher Walken was the host of the show when this aired. It's way too hard to explain, you would just have to see it to understand....

Christopher Walken (as famed producer Bruce Dickinson) "Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription...is more cowbell!"

I know you can find the skit on Kazaa and it is also on Will Ferrell greatest SNL hits DVD. It's a must see.

Wow, an SNL thread. Neat. ;D

I love SNL. I mean, I loved it more a few years ago and even then, there were a few raunchy skits. I thought Will Ferrel was hilarious. Celebrity Jeopardy was my FAVORITE! "I'll take the rapists for 200." "That's THERAPISTS..." Oh there are so many good ones! Or Turd Ferguson (i.e. Burt Reynolds): "I'm wearing a hat. It's funny. It's funny cause it's a big hat." And so on.

My favorite cast member now is Maya Rudolph. However, I have a bit of a soft spot for Horatio Sans - especially when he plays Jimmy Fallon's roommate on that bit where they do a talk show from his dorm room...I forget the name - cause he laughs while he does skits sometimes.

It's a good show. I used to watch it every week, but now I just watch it when I go home. I wish they'd re-air the older ones cause they were funny. I remember the Steve Martin Christmas Wishes one! Ahahahaha! Or they one where he sings a song about King Tut. Oh, good times.

I like the show - can you tell?

No, not at all... hehehe.

Maya Rudolph is fantastic, and I'm also partial to Seth Meyers and Tina Fey. I wish they'd utilize Chris Parnell or Darrell Hammond more, but it seems since Ferrel, Kattan, and Gasteyer (and perhaps Molly Shannon and Cheri Oteri) left there hasn't been much for them to do. Everyone else is on a different level so to speak. Or that they'd leave the show and move on. No, I don't really wish that, but it seems their talents are wasted nowadays.

Title: Re:Saturday Night Live
Post by: JaiFan on March 30, 2004, 09:12:28 pm

I think that Ferrel, Kattan, and Gasteyer are the most talented so they would like to use them more than the others.

My absolute fav era of SNL was the late 80's/early 90's. Gap girls, Coffee Talk, Nat X, The Denise Show, that skit where Phil Hartman said it's "fobody's nault", Def Jam parodies, Hyper Hypo, Chippendale's,Lunch Lady Land, Church Lady,Schmitt's Gay beer commercial, the Swiss hidden camera and coffee commercial w/ Chris Farley, Nerf Crotch Bats, Hollywood Update,Wayne's World, Dana Carvey as Ross Perot, George Bush Sr., Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton... I could go on and on...

I think the best SNL's were in the 90's. I miss Will Ferrell and I loved Chris Kataan's character Mango as well. 8) My favorite person on there now is Jimmy Fallon. I don't remember the overweight guys name but hes always in skits with Jimmy and they almost always start cracking up. Its so funny just to see that.

Title: Re:Saturday Night Live
Post by: Mirabelle on March 30, 2004, 11:52:30 pm

I wish they'd release SNL on DVD in seasons instead of " Best of...." I really want to see the original episodes (which E! did not show frequent enough) plus the Eddie Murphy/Joe Piscopo (sp?) era. I agree with elijahjovi that the early 90s were a great era. Sure, not every episode was great, nor were some seasons great (didn't they have members of the brat pack as a cast once? who thought of THAT?!), but I want to see them anyway.

And Gilda Radner. My, that woman was fantastic.

Title: Re:Saturday Night Live
Post by: curious bout efans on March 31, 2004, 01:36:00 am

Gilda Radner was a phenomenon. Seriously.

I wish I could see the older episodes as well. Or early 90's. I loved it when Dana Carvey played Ross Perot! So did my dad, incidentally. He even bought The Best of Dana Carvey and it is hilarious. She makes on helluva Church Lady.

Wayne's World was awesome as well. God, there were so many good skits! Rah.

I didn't know Ana Gasteyer was still on the show. I know she was pregnant and not doing much for a while but I haven't seen her on there for a long time now.

Hey Erica: The guy that does skits with Jimmy Fallon is Horatio Sanz. Sans? Dude, it's one of those two.

I do like Weekend Update. Colin what's-his-face wasn't as funny. Oooh, but I did like Norm McDonald. I know not everyone liked him, but he appealed to me. Woohah.

I watch SNL maybe a couple times a year.

Half of my Drama class is obsessed with it, though. So therefore I've been walking around for the past week singing:

"Who's that spartan in my tipi? It's me! It's me! Who's that spartan in my tipi? It's me! It's me! My name is Greg. I did drugs once. I am a spartan. So check me out!"

I think his name was Greg. ::)

There's some part with a girl too, but all I know is that it goes "My name is (?). I don't do drugs. I am a spartan. So check me out!"

Can someone tell me what the hell this is?

I wish you could see the one with the Pumpkins, Hazy. They were awesome and looked really snazzy. (Actually i think they've been on 2 or 3 times.) Or have you seen it now?

LOL, yes, that helps. I just keep singing it and my brother's like 'What are you talking about?!'

The Pumpkins were on SNL twice. I haven't seen either of the episodes. :( I did hear (I downloaded the audio) the one little skit Billy did with Cameron Diaz the second time they were on. Was that the one you saw?

CJ = Celebrity Jeopardy. I mentioned the thread I made earlier, but I can't find it anywhere. I made it in Misc. a long time ago, but I can't find it there, nor in Other Movies. WTF? ^-^ In the thread, I posted the skit I was talking about here - the one with "Batman!" ;D Matthew Perry wasn't all that bad, really.

I love the Sean Connery impersanation though:

Connery: I've got to ask you about the Penis Mightier.

Trebek: What? No. No, no, that is The Pen is Mightier.

Connery: Gussy it up however you want, Trebek. What matters is does it work?

Edit: Hell yes, I found the skit: http://www.fakenews.net/archive/impressions/jeopardy_97_10_04.html

Trebek: The categories are… 'Continents', 'Theatre', 'Potpourri', 'Potent Potables', 'Numbers', 'Words That Rhyme With Dog', and finally 'The Renaissance'. And you know what? Let's just replace that last category with 'Shapes'. .....ROFL.

Trebek: Mr. Travolta, why don't you pick a category?

Travolta: 'Continents' for $600.

Trebek: And it's the Audio Daily Double. How much do you want to wager?

Travolta: I wanna play it safe, I'll wager zero dollars.

Trebek: All right for zero. Here's your audio daily double clue: Name this continent:

Audio Daily Double Voice: ASIA.

[Travolta looks around thinking]

Trebek: Mr. Travolta?

Audio Daily Double Voice: ASIA.

- time buzzer rings -

Trebek: Time has run out. The answer was Asia.

Reynolds: Eh, tough luck there, buddy, eh?

*giggles* I also love the Calista, Sean Connery and Nick Cage one. Omg, I forgot who played Nick but hahahahaha, that was so hilarious.

"ASIA."
*hysterical laughter*

Crazy Hazy: Maya Rudolph plays Donatella Versace.

Thanks for the link, Mer! I love you. :-[

Oooh, I remembered another one:

Here's a funny excerpt:

Connery: I'll pose a conundrum to ya - a riddle, if you will.

Alex: I don't want to hear it.

Connery: What's the difference between you and a mallet with a cold? One's a sick duck...I can't remember how it ends but your mother's a wh*re.

The custom title might take a while since I don't think she's on right now...er...sorry about that. But it's definitely taken from a Celebrity Jeopardy skit. I just hope it's appropriate. :-X

I've got another one:

Connery: Knock knock.

Alex: Who's there.

Connery: Me - the guy who slept with your mother last night!

That's a good one. I'll have to remember it for later. ;D

>__< I remember that one! Heres a question i have: How many times did they do the Jeopardy skit? Oooo....

Post by: curious bout efans on April 01, 2004, 04:28:47 am

I think it was only twelve times. And the real Alex Trebeck came on the last one, when Will Ferrel left SNL. Man, it's too bad he left - he was cool. And funny! I had no idea how funny he was until he left.

That bit with Harry Carrey always kinda freaked me out, though. Or the luvahs skit...ewwwww. Old people trying to get kinky, eating bacon (or whatever) and then pulling their back. Heh.

It's too bad no one knows The Continental. He is sexy. Hahahahaah! I will have to look for that skit. ;D

Actually, they do show repeats of the older ones. Every Sunday morning @ 3am Central on NBC!! I try to tape it every week, but sometimes I forget. It's great when they show the late 80's/early 90's ones! Good times! :D

I know the Continental! Christopher Walken rocks! He's so creepy and funny at the same time. :D ;D
Isn't that the skit where he tries to get the woman to stay and puts all these moves on her? All you can see of the woman is her gloved hand. Christopher is in a smoking jacket and keeps following her around his apartment.

Yeah, that's the skit alright. It's so funny! I can't find any clips online though. Just transcripts. I'll try again later because it is hysterical (in my opinion, at least).

As for 3 AM airings...wow...3 AM. Jeez, that's kinda late. Oh well, maybe I'll try to tape them when I get home in the summer. Cause that'd be cool.

Speaking on CJ, did you see the one with Wynonna Ryder played Bjork and she wore the dress?

Alex Trebek: Bjork, this is the only thing that becomes toast.

Bjork: Everything is music. When I go home, I throw knickers in the oven and it's music. Crash, boom, bang! (makes indistinct noises) (buzz)

Haha. I also remember this one from the time Josh Hartnett was on.

Aw man, when they started to sing, it was so funny.

Ah! The Continental! Christopher Walken is the man. Those are the best.

My personal Celebrity Jeopardy bit:

Alex Trebek: I see. You know what, let's just move on to Final Jeopardy with every player in negative numbers. And the category is...you know what, this is way too hard, I'm just gonna make one up. How about your favorite food? Just write down whatever food you personally like most, any food you like to eat. [ music starts ] Your favorite food. [ Keaton walks over to Reynolds's podium ] Keep in mind you can't be wrong. You can even lie to me and just put down a food. [ music stops ] Okay, and put down your pens. Mr. Travolta, let's see what you put. Your favorite food is.. [ shows his screen ] Miso. A type of soup, excellent! And your wager.. [ shows his wager ] Horny. Me, so horny. [ Travolta laughs. ] Great.

John Travolta: Come on, that's hilarious! Come on!

Although I could've sworn it was Sean Connery. Ah well. This is the greatest site ever for SNL.

http://snltranscripts.jt.org/ (http://snltranscripts.jt.org/)

Although you all probably know that already.

Anybody remember Coffee Talk, with Mike Meyers? FABULOUS!

"You're like Buttah!"

"Now I'm getting a little verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves. I'll give you a topic. The radical reconstruction of the south after the Civil War was neither radical nor a reconstruction. Discuss! There I feel better."

Or when Barbra Streisand showed up? That was soooo good.

Linda Richman: Oh, my God! It's Barbra! It's Barbra! You're beautiful! It's Barbra! Oh! I can die now! Barbra, you're beautiful! That's all the time we have, I have to go and die now! Barbra!
Yes I saw that! With someone doing Catherine Zeta-Jones and Adam Sandler? That was a great show.

Sean Connery: I'll take famous titties for two thousand.

Celebrity Jeopardy host: That's famous titles. ::)

LOL!

Jimmy Fallon was actually in a lot of them! I forgot about that. He did a great Hilary Swank. ;)

My FAVORITE bit ever of Celebrity Jeopardy was when Tobey Maguire portrayed Keanu Reeves:

Alex: Keanu Reeves has an impressive negative 32,000 dollars.

Keanu: I know Kung Fu.

Alex: For the last time, no you don't.

Ah, and there's more but I don't want to type it all out.

I loved the Martha Stewart sketches with Ana Gastyer. Or the singing couple - Ana Gastyer and Will Ferrel? Does anyone know to what I'm referring? My dad didn't get it but I think they are hilarious.

Or what about the Ladies Man? "Oooh, it's a lady." Ahaha. ;D

Hells yes. Thats one of the greatest. They think they're cool by singing all these pop songs and the lady sounds like an Opera singer. ;D Its hilarious.

The Spartans were okay.

I LOVE Goat Boy! He is a household favorite - my dad loves him even more than I do! Ahahahahaha.

I love reminiscing like this. ;D

HAHA the Continental was hilarious!

The Harry Carrey skits were so funny!! Will Ferrel is a genius, & his "Best-of" video is is great..

"Hey...hey...if you were a hot dog, would you eat yourself? I know I would..I'd be so delicious.."

"If you had to choose between being the top scientist in your field or getting Mad Cow Disease, which would you choose?..........Oh good, I was worried you would choose Mad Cow."

LOL Ok I'm cracking myself up..gotta go...

Oh jeez, I remember that hot dog comment! He said the strangest things.

What father and son skit are people mentioning? I don't remember that...

Darrel Hammond makes a great Bill Clinton. Haha. And John Goodman as Linda...I forget her name! Well, you know, Monica Lewinksy's friend or whatever.

I think the best was Dana Carvey as Bush. Remember when he put on the night goggles?

"Scary! Very scary!" And he made hand motions..ahahaha! Oh man, good times.

Nah, this week's SNL was a new one. Wasn't bad, since Donald Trump isn't an actor so I don't expect great things out of him, but they could have done something other than "I'm Donald Trump!" sketches. The Father & Son sketch was ok. Jimmy and Horatio always crack up and after a while it annoys me. That why I enjoyed the cold opening.

"This guy is always cracking up! He should be fired!"

Or something like that.

Thought you guys might be interested in this.
