Yea, that looks creepy. What time is the preview on at? I don't know why, but this movie reminds me of "28 Days Later." I'm odd, I know ::)

Um. The 10 minute preview came on about 10:20 on channel USA.

I'm sorry if I didnt make that clear. It was just the first 10 minutes of the movie... but can I say freaky.

You guys are right the movie reminds me of 28 days later, the exorcist, and resident evil. Kind of a combo of the 3.
I cant wait to see this.. gonna go with a guy so I can cuddle up to him.. wish that guy was Elijah.

oh well.

Yea, I just saw the preview last night. It was pretty spooky. That whole girl jumping back up, kind of reminded me of the Excorcist

Dawn of the Dead is set in Wisconsin. That is just dumb cuz I live in Wisconsin.
Jeez. The original is a classic and it's actually good. This is just a dumb excuse to blow zombies heads off. Bad way to rip off people's money.
See the original. >:(

What's the plot? I've only seen the promo posters, and I thought 'Exorcist' and 'Thirteen Ghosts' just from the way the pictures made. (Or it is in the UK).

Quote:
As the United States is turned upside-down by a strange plague-like event in which millions of corpses walk the earth as blood-thirsty zombies (with the recently-deceased that the zombies kill usually returning as zombies themselves, multiplying their number), a small group of survivors of the onslaught, which include a nurse (Polley) and a police officer (Rhames), try to find shelter and protection within a massive shopping mall in the mid-sized city of Everett, WA. What they don't reckon on is that the zombies still have some sort of residual memory, and *everyone* loves going to the mall, right? Realizing that their time is running out, they decide to make another attempt at flight, to a presumably un-zombie-infested island, but to do so, they'll have to get past thousands of zombies in-between...

There's a summary, courtesy of IMDB.com

Hmm, Thirteen Ghosts was about Cyrus and his children, who inherits a house that's filled with 13 ghosts that can only be seen with special glasses. They're all protected, because the glass walls have writing on them that wards the ghosts from entering. The ghosts get loose while they're all trapped inside and begin killing. They have to capture all the ghosts so they don't keep killing. It's pretty gorey (i.e. guy gets killed when his head is chopped off between two doors, kind of stuff) I don't know, Thirteen Ghosts didn't remind me of Dawn of the Dead. I'm not even sure if you even wanted a summary from me. lol

They're remaking a George A. Romero zombie film? okay, that's just asking for trouble...

yeah another Zombie movie, another plague movie, another "end of the world" kinda thing movie. They're freaky, I saw 28 days Later and i liked it. but for this one, i think i'll wait till it comes out on DVD. It's gonna be the same thing i guess. :-\

Isn't this just the remake of the original one??

The posters look quite cool, and I'll probably go and see it as there's been too many 'chick flicks' out recently and I've been deprived of blood and horror for too long.

One question: How can you kill a zombie, if it is indeed the living dead...meaning it's dead - ie. Been killed already.??

Okay I'm done now....

Oh actually, anyone most probably in the UK heard of the spoof of this called Shawn of the Dead? That looks good. :)

Yea, it's a remake. Ha, I don't know how to answer your question. Do they really kill the zombies? Or just bypass them to get to safety?

Title: Re:Dawn of the Dead
Post by: Menalie on March 19, 2004, 03:07:55 am

Well everyone in films that involve Zombies are like 'How do we kill them?? ARGH' but you can't kill them because they are the walking dead, so I think all you can do is stop them ???

Good question thought don't you think.

I didn't mean from the plot, just from the way they make up a face on a poster I saw. My mates agreed! :)

It sounds quite good really. Just aslong as it hasn't fallen into the 'lets make it a spiced up teen movie' genre, then it should be alright. Never saw the original- can you tell? lol

I'm getting ready right now to go and see this in a couple of hours.

I'm way stoked!!! ;D

I haven't seen the original and I guess that's a good thing so I don't spend the entire time watching it while comparing it to the original. I hate when I do that. >:(

But I do like scary movies so hopefully this one won't be hyped up!!!

The orginal Dawn of the Dead is awesome...Tom Savini (the make-up artist for the film) is my hero.

Just got back from the movie.

It wasn't the greatest but I still liked it a lot.

The reason I liked it was cuz that's probably how it really WOULD be if that were to happen on Earth.

Very interesting.

I recommend it. :)

Now I really want to check out the original.

Yeah I saw it at the weekend, not the best film but a good one to take your time and effort to see.

AND It ends in a realistic fashion, although I would like to know how they knew which boat to get into??

Oh yeah, huh?

Didn't think about that one!!! ::)

Maybe there was a part that we missed where he said the name of the boat or something? I dunno. Whatever. ;)

One of my friends has been talking about this movie non-stop.
"It has zombies! It has to be good!" ::)
Not really my thing (doesn't have a strong stomache) but it's supposed to be really good.

Title: Re:Dawn of the Dead
Post by: Menalie on March 23, 2004, 04:39:14 pm

Yeah, it's good but I wouldn't say it was great.

And Frodes I didn't think he mentioned the name, although I thought they'd make a joke about 'It's the one with all the expensive stuff because he's so arrogant' but nope nothing lol.

A Makhi Phifer Classic ::).

It's a cheap version of 28 days later, just with double the amount of people and set in the states. Why don't they just call it '1 day later' eh? I think that would of intrigued me more.

this movie reminds me alot of Resident Evil, there is a part two coming, i bet that is why they redone the "Dawn of the Dead"

Uh... I'm sure I wouldn't like it myself, but that's not true. It's getting awesome reviews, and quite a few of the people I've talking to keep raving about it.
