Surprise! Elijah will have a part in the Hobbit and it's confirmed. :D

I hope you don't mind me making a new topic here, I think it deserves a thread of it's own.

Yes, the entire thing is shot in 3D, not just transformed in 3D.

Oh man, I can't stand 3D. It's really hard on my eyes, and I can't enjoy it. Oh well, what can you do, I have to see it. :)

You can always opt for 2D version if you feel like it...

Oh, and here's the press release (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2011/01/11/41633-its-really-official-now-wood-serkis-press-release/).

The Hobbit is one of my favorite books and I read it each yr. Now that Elijah is confirmed to be part of it, I'm even more excited about it as well. Even thought I seen the LOTR films I can't imagine how some of the creatures will be shot and I'm wonder what they'll leave out. Beorn seems like a character easier to leave out than include, but I hope not.

They're not leaving Beorn out. Mikael Persbrandt will be playing him.

Elijah's comments (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2011/01/12/41646-elijah-wood-speaks-about-the-hobbit/), everyone. I think it's really sweet, his enthusiasm seems real. :)

Oh, and here's more. (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2011/01/12/41660-elijah-wood-speaks-even-more-about-the-hobbit/)

@FAQ
Does this mean that Elijah will be in New Zealand for a whole year? (since he said that the shooting will go over a year or so)

My friend is a major LotR buff, and I'm sure she'll be seeing The Hobbit.

Oh, they have something new every day. The news about the Hobbit are going very hot right now.

I found at least this (http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2010/12/03/40907-sweedish-actor-mikael-persbrant-cast-in-the-hobbit/). It turned out later that he would be Beorn.

Edit: More from Torn...
Elijah Wood emphasized his role in "The Hobbit" films will not effect the integrity of the story in a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter:

"There only would have been reservation about taking the part if there had been something that had infringed upon the integrity of the original book," he says. "But that was never going to be the case."

While the "Rings" reunion is happening, the actor does not believe it will be a repeat session where the main actors opted for bonding tattoos during the filming of the original series.

"This time around, I don't think so," says Wood. "But you never know."
I know Elijah's role is minimal but I hope that he's around enough to be able to give a commentary way down the line when the DVD's released. He seems pretty observant and able to speak intelligently about a film. It would be neat to hear him contrast the Hobbit shoot with the LOTR's one. ;)

Thanks so much for the link Lorie. It's exciting that he will be part of The Hobbit. Don't know that otherwise I'd be so excited. I'll forever be in love with PJ for including his character. :D

From TheOneRing.net:

Of late there seems to be no let up to the slew of Hobbit-related news and we're not complaining.

Dwarf revelations aside, today brings a very interesting tweet by Ryan Gage, cast originally in the role of Drogo Baggins, the father of Frodo Baggins (played, of course, by Elijah Wood).

"Had a costume fitting today and met Elijah Wood for the first time. What a really nice guy!"

Early this May, Peter Jackson announced via Facebook that Ryan Gage would be playing the Master of Laketown's conniving civil servant, Alfrid.

We already knew that. :)

As far as I know, Ryan did play Drogo, and PJ actually liked him enough to reward him with this extra role.

Interview: 10 years later (http://www.movieline.com/2011/06/elijah-wood-on-the-hobbit-and-lord-of-the-rings-10-years-later.php) (and about the Hobbit)

Contrary to some fans' belief, he still actually enjoys talking about the role of Frodo.

That's a good thing. Elijah's worked very hard to avoid being typecast. He's known to have many irons on the fire though and seems thrilled to play Frodo again in The Hobbit.

Wow, what great interviews :) Thanks Lorie. I haven't been following the hobbit process as much as I'd like... I'm really excited though ;D I'm also glad to hear Ian Holm's gonna have a part too.

Does anyone know when exactly Elijah goes to NZ? Or has he already went? I thought I heard October...

Elijah can be spotted on set in the latest Hobbit production video diary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHF536TJ0iE)... around 2:34. He's wearing Frodo costume with 3D glasses and no mistake. :D
