Oh-boy-oh-boy-oh-boy! :o :D *tries to contain self*

I'm so excited by this news too, but the thing is, I keep reading about various projects that he's slated to be in, but which never seem to get off the ground. :P

I KNOW The Romantics has been filmed already but don't hold out much hope of seeing it in Oz cinemas... as for the Iggy Pop bio-pic ::)

This one does sound great tho. ;D And I LOVE Elijah in comedic roles, EII is one of my fave EW films.

^ Me, too. :)

I really hope he plans to stick with this one for good, since I dunno he has anything planned for the years to come. I think this could be a great, fresh start for'em.

I'd also love to see him crack a joke or two. :D

Oh, I'd be so excited to see that! I'd love to see him doing some comedy too. Thank you for the link Allie! :D

No prob, Mary! ^^ Happy to help.

I'm still psyched for this. It's funny, because the other day I thought of Elijah starring in a sitcom like Michael J. Fox.

-Michael J. Fox starred in one of the most awesome movie trilogies
-Elijah did the same
-Michael makes it bigger and tries out for more roles
-Elijah also does this
-Michael once starred in the hit television sitcom Spin City a few years later, and now it airs on FX everyday. (well.. 1996-1999, and then Charlie Sheen took over the role from 2000-2001/2)
-Now, Elijah will star in a sitcom's pilot, and may *hopefully* earn success, that will have more seasons to come--and it will air on FX

... Is it just me or do I see a pattern? :P ;D

^^^ Interesting you should compare these two as my husband has always said EW reminds him of Michael J Fox.

You know, short "cutesy", ex-child star...

Tho it must be said hubby isn't the biggest Elijah Wood fan... I wonder why THAT could be? ::) ;)

Hee, my husband would say he's not a fan of EW too but he's loved him in the few things he's seen him, LOTR, Day Zero, GSH & EII. I think if the material is good, Elijah should do well in this series.

it was reported that elijah begins filming today (7-19) for the pilot. not sure of the source, but if it's true, i hope he has a good time and wishing him much luck. ;D

RAHHHH THAT'S AWESOME. XD

... You know, I really do hope that this show has scenes of him sitting in the park with a co-star. I think those'll be popular if a recurring cast-member had shown up on a daily basis just to give Ryan advice and not to go nuts over Wilfred. I keep picturing a kid, but yeah... that's just me. :P

Edit:

Btw, Deenan! Um.. do you know who Elijah's co-star who will be playing his character's GF? I'm interested. *tomato'd for being so nosy!*

well, that news was just dropped yesterday. she will be played by fiona gubelmann.

a link to the article:

she's a long time tv actress the same age as elijah. :)

Post by: deenan on August 14, 2010, 07:32:12 am

after this morning, i'm not sure who's going to be the girlfriend. :P

now it's said andrea savage will play the part. it's been reported by variety magazine so i would tend to trust them rather than the other report saying fiona gubelmann had the role, though that seemed pretty legit even with her facebook page. i suppose executives and casting directors can change their minds.

andrea has an even more impressive list of accomplishments. check out her imbd page. :)

Really?

If they can't decide who to cast as the girl next door, why not play musical chairs instead? That would settle things. ;D

EDIT:

I recently found this article that was in German, then translated it on Google... It's from yesterday:
The cast of the comedy pilot Wilfred completed are:
Andrea Savage from Dinner with jewelry is one of the leading roles in addition to
Elijah Wood play. What part they play is not so far
known.

Andrea Savage is one of the leading roles in the comedy series "Wilfred"
That play has piloted the U.S. cable channel FX. The
reported the U.S. trade paper Variety. "Wilfred" is the adaptation of a
Australian format.

The series is about an average guy named Ryan (Elijah Wood,
"The Lord of the Rings"), who in his neighbor Sarah (Fiona
Gubelmann in love). Best of all, you return his feelings - and
actually a whirlwind romance that nothing will stand in the way.

If it was not their dog would be. Or what all but one for Ryan
Keep your dog. For Wilfred, the name of the pet, Wilfred appears in
Form of a grown man (Jason Gann) in a dog costume, the
makes no bones about the fact that he and Ryan as a friend of his mistress
does not agree.

Savage will play what role in the pilot is still unknown. In
U.S. cinema is up to date with Steve Carell in "Dinner with Jewelry"
to see. She has previously also guest-starred on "The West Wing", "Cold
Case", "King Of Queens", Two And A Half Men " and "Party Down" played.
In the short-lived Bravo series "Significant Others", it has a
Role played. Also in the self-written by her and
produced series "Dog Bites Man" on Comedy Central.
Also looked up Ms. Gubbelmann's Facebook and saw her profile picture of a 'WILFRED' arrow(s) sign on it. :P

Pretty confused right now.....

Question-

If everyone was working on the pilot, why would they switch casting already? None of this makes any sense to me. >< I thought that they'd finish up by now. Guess not...

it's not unusual to recast someone during production of a project. maybe both actresses were cast and one turned out better for the lead or something contractual wasn't working or it was a conflict in scheduling. if the show gets picked up, there would be some long time commitments attached. for all we know elijah could be recast. *parish the thought* :P

remember LOTR had shot a few days with one aragorn then dropped him and brought in viggo. it happens all the time, probably more so in television. i was doing a project on tv shows and some of my favorite ones had pilots with different people.

the google translation is funny! "dinner with jewelry" should be dinner for schmucks. :D still, it's good most reports are on the same page.

there hasn't been any word on the status of wilfred until now. the pilot impressed the powers that be and they picked up the show for a full season!

read all about it (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2010/10/25/fx-orders-comedy-series-wilfred-533412/20101025fx01/#ixzz13PJBMh7V).

we'll be seeing elijah on tv for 13 weeks. he's going to be a little busy, methinks. ;)

not long ago, elijah and the crew were out filming a scene in venice beach. you can see those pics here (http://always.ejwsites.net/10-wilfredset.html).

and if you didn't catch the preview for the show that was on line and can be seen on tv, there is a download (http://www.mediafire.com/?s0nfcugkpf2x2qn) thanks to karin.

i think this will be just quirky enough to get in an audience. it's certainly funny IMO.

did you hear how chris got the part? apparently chris is working on getting himself cleaned up and was looking to get his career going again. elijah played a big part in chris getting a role on the show and chris is grateful for elijah's help.

a group of short promos were released yesterday and every one of them had me laughing hysterically!

@Promos
The lick was awkward... But it had me hooked! :D I loved "Tug of War", that was priceless. Ryan's "WTH" face had me grinning. "Bed Hog" is my favorite.

I've got to write a fanfic. ;D

is anyone else finding this show amazing? just when i think it's topped out, they go in a different direction. i love how it's now going on a tangent where wilfred isn't constantly badgering ryan. in the last two episodes ryan is coming to his own by no real manipulations from wilfred.

and the laughs are starting to make me feel uncomfortable. why am i laughing at these things? it's so totally wrong, but i still crack up! i think it's due to the awesome writing and fantastic acting.

i'm always looking forward to thursdays now and i'm crossing my fingers wilfred will see another season. ;D

I think we laugh because we see the parody. I thought this last episode was well done and well-acted. Elijah has great comedic timing and his non-verbal expressions are terrific. I was having trouble with Ryan's mental health issues but I think you?re right; he?s becoming more confident in himself. I will be glued to my set on Thursday nights for sure. ;)

and thank goodness for parody, otherwise i'd probably feel more guilty about laughing without it. ;D

wilfred has become my new guilty pleasure, so bring on the next episode. looks to be another winner with ryan confronting drew. (jenna's boyfriend)

speaking of jenna, boy did she turn vicious in the last show. forget the cute story... let's go for shutting down a hospice! :D

Oh, do I thank the writers of tonight's eppie... I've gotten my own inspiration of a fanfiction in mind of using that... "Bunny Hole", no matter how naughty it sounds.

Tonight's episode was fantastic. I especially adored Wilfred's British accent. His love triangle made my night. But why not a combo of the best stuffies in the world? He... I couldn't watch his scene with "Raffie". I just had to turn down the volume and shield my eyes.

EDIT:

DONE.

So tonight's episode was full of "AWWW'S" from me. The ending was just "AWWWW" worthy. :'D (... even though I had no idea if it were a dream)

I was so rooting for Ryan when he shut his sister up and she finally confessed the truth... and the hug. And Wilfred saying "Piss off!", whilst smacking the wine all over her bathrobe.

I give this episode two thumbs up. It's my favorite so far!

(and Elijah in that costume... oh, how embarrassing! He looked similar to the Salton in Disney's Aladdin. ;D)

TOTALLY AWWWW worthy! i wasn't expecting such a sweet and touching ending. i was crying and from the tweets, so were others.

up until the end which is standing out as my favorite scene so far, i thought there were a lot of great moments last night. ryan finally telling off kristen, and seeing her vulnerable side for a change, wilfred's hysterical possession channeling voices from president lincoln to magic johnson, and wilfred creating havoc at the party.

i have to find another word for brilliant!

oh, and i have always loved the dress from indian culture and i loved that elijah got to wear it and he looked rather handsome in it. love the way his garment flowed as he chased down wilfred at the party. :D

I've been surprised at how different yet still connected each episode is. The writing is witty and the acting superb, Elijah and Jason have real chemistry.

I was tearful at the end seeing Ryan cuddling his pup. It feels as if little by little we're seeing him heal emotionally. Very powerful stuff for a half-hr comedy.

i agree, and i think those who don't "get" wilfred or wonder what's going on are thinking too much and can't see what the big picture is. i just go with the flow and find the connections. sure, it may take me until the next show to see it, but i think that's the writers purpose.

Please tell me that I wasn't the only one who was laughing when Mittens was a woman in a kitty costume... Her quote had me dying.

"I need to pee...!!" Oh Jenna, you crack me up too!

I preferred the first episode to the second. The second one was all right... at least everyone is getting to know Ryan a bit more. What surprised me that the neighbor with the motorcycle didn't show up...

you weren't the only one allie, though i saw it coming but not until just before mittens transformed. it does put some background to what's happening to ryan.

i wondered where spencer was as well. maybe he was on vacation. ;D he could have been the other suspect to the rash of break ins that happened.

i loved both episodes with a slight lean toward compassion. mary steenburgen was wonderful and i hope she makes another return. there were so many guests in the second show, i didn't even catch them all at first. ;)

I was originally not going to watch this (as much as I love Elijah). It just seemed too off the wall. One of my friends made me. Well not made, maybe prodded me in the right direction.

I find that after each episode that I draw a blank. I mean there are no words sometimes! LoL..so weird. I did tell my friend that I totally dislike his hair here.

I'm always a lil behind cause I work at the time it airs. So I watch it on hulu. They run what though? Week behind? I just finished watching the one with Kristen's (sp?) party. Is that the most recent? Or no.

One thing I'm rather annoyed by is that I look up and a half hour has gone by. These need to be longer. They really do. Maybe Wilfred's just better in small doses?

Ah well. :)

wilfred isn't for everyone, but i love that so many have taken to it. me for one. i can't wait until the next show and i'll be bumming all winter and spring until the new season starts.

the most recent one... or two... are compassion and isolation both of which aired last week. i have the shows downloaded from itunes and they're available the day after the show.

i agree that the shows need to be longer. small doses of wilfred just aren't enough for me. ;D

It's just so weird to see Elijah WEEKLY rather than a two hour movie here and there.

Is this only going to be a summer show?

yes, only for the summer. then i assume it returns next summer unless they decide on a fall release.

i LOVE seeing elijah once a week. it's like a date. LOL!

this week's show had me scratching my head after it was done. even now, i'm not sure if bruce is real or not. if he is real then ryan isn't the only nut in the basket. if bruce isn't real, ryan is one of a kind like wilfred said in this episode. i'm leaning toward one of a kind. wilfred told ryan if he saw bruce again to let him know.

i loved the dog bits when wilfred attacked the vacuum cleaner and sniffed everything in the woods saying "never smelled that before." it makes me wonder if that's what my dog is really doing. ;D

Funny since I'm surprised that my own mother hadn't banned me from watching it. After Jane's appearance, mom resisted the show because it was so bad. oh sweet Lord how relieved I am that she didn't see the Wilfred/Raffee sex... When she saw that the country singer was the role of Bruce, and Mom was instantly hooked. :D

... I still don't get the ending either. It's confusing. But who knows; maybe we'll see Bruce again one day! He's an interesting character.

Question! Well... er, request!

Some weird things come to mind when I'm in the oddest places.

Would it be all right if there could a section in the forum that is meant for Wilfred, like the LotR or Harry Potter? Topics about favorite characters, scenes, upcoming season(s?), ideas, juicy footage, bloopers, music, ect.

It'd be useful, methinks.
that's an idea that would have to be looked into. i'm not sure if it's feasible to make a new section for it but if wilfred goes into season three, another section may be in the works. for now, we'll just keep this going. deal? ;)

well, we're upon the last show and i'm getting a little sad my thursday date night will cease. sacrifice was another good episode. this is the most i think wirlfred has behaved like a dog. trying to cheer up jenna by acting silly was amusing! fiona got some great screen time too when she wigged out on tv! ;D

there was no way ryan would take off to italy, even though it's something that he should do with all the self-discovering he's been going through.

i loved the courtroom scene! and i like that it finally got into some of what ryan did as an attorney.

Title: Re:WILFRED: Elijah to the Small Screen!

Title: Re:WILFRED: Elijah to the Small Screen!
Post by: deenan on September 09, 2011, 07:59:52 am

there were a lot of things that surprised us which is what i've been loving about this show!

ryan drifts back to his old persona that he didn't like being and look what happens! he sure mucked up the situation, didn't he?

if you need a hint to the last scene where things got really bizarre, check out the episode anger. there's 4 words spoken by kristen that put a seed of doubt in my head, but i just glazed over it. now it makes sense even as nonsensical as wirlfred can be. ;)

loved the bubbles scenes. i do that with my dog and i think i'll bring the bubbles back out for her!

Title: Re:WILFRED: Elijah to the Small Screen!

these are some interesting questions romeny.

1) will there be a DVD and when will it be released?
2) what kind of extras will be on that DVD?
3) considering the success of wilfred, will they stay with a summer show or take it to fall?

i'm sure there has to be a dvd. as far as a release, it could have been last week. ;D the sooner the better! given wilfred's premise, there has to be some great extras on it. i need bloopers and out takes which has to be plenty!

a two disc would be great. one for the show, one for the extras. hint, hint FX! ;)

i'd love for the show to remain airing in the summer. for me, just because it's shot in LA, it seems like a summer show.? :)

if you're a fan of wilfred... d'uh... check out the new section i've put together on the main site. there are a few more things i need to do, but the bulk of it is completed.

Tonight's episode was better than ever! If anyone can upload the BGM from the competition, I'd be eternally grateful.

The beginning of "CONTROL".

I am stumped. Did they edit the beginning of the episode and hear about/see the video before the said episode as a whole? Because the video was posted on July 5. Unless a user uploaded it from the original creator of the remix.

if you look at the creator's profile of that video on youtube they only have one video posted. that one. i'm pretty sure the video was made exclusively for the show by someone in the wilfred camp. then it was announced by everyone involved to watch it well before the episode aired. it was more than likely remixed while they were writing the new season and at the proper time it was posted on youtube.

in the episode that had jenna spazzing out we only see the footage from a television set and not everything we see in the youtube video was seen in the episode. the youtube video is clean as if it was taken directly from the original filming.

if you look at the creator's profile of that video on youtube they only have one video posted. that one. i'm pretty sure the video was made exclusively for the show by someone in the wilfred camp. then it was announced by everyone involved to watch it well before the episode aired. it was more than likely remixed while they were writing the new season and at the proper time it was posted on youtube.

in the episode that had jenna spazzing out we only see the footage from a television set and not everything we see in the youtube video was seen in the episode. the youtube video is clean as if it was taken directly from the original filming.

Oh, so that's how it is! Thanks very much for the information on that, Deenan. What did you think of tonight's episode?

If I ever take a trip to LA, I'll have to ask Elijah for full weekend of dance lessons. This episode was fantastic. I want to know more about James and Ryan's father. But the dancing...!! I loved the music segment when Wil&Ry were dancing through the streets and alleyways. Go '80s!!

that episode was super crazy! when they said it had everything in it, they weren't kidding. all they needed was some scary clowns. ;D

i really liked how they transformed the basement into a stage. lots of hard work for a tight budget but it worked. and the dancing was great! of course it wasn't perfect and it wasn't meant to be but they did very well. and you can see some slick moves going on from elijah. bouncing off walls and even a barrel roll! i watch this instruction video and image the two of them taking lessons.

ryan's dad. now that's going to be something very interesting. it's great we're finding out more about him this season and it seems imminent that he will show up at some point.

I haven't been on in quite a while!! College has started up again but that doesn't mean that I haven't been messing any episodes. ;D

Tonight's episode was rather fun and the ending... let's just say I was really touched by it. Then again, my dog usually sneaks his snout under my wrist every day.

But for Ryan and Wilfred, it was the first time. Elijah really put on the act in his "sad" voice. Oh, my God. I just wanted to burst through the television screen and hug the life out of both his young-self and present self. Ryan needs love, and lots of it -- stat!

it was a fantastic episode. there are more episodes this season that stand out than last for me. "now," "truth," and "questions" have been phenomenal.

i wonder though if elijah was acting in the end. it was so believable and powerful. i think he went to a place than genuinely hurt him and he absorbed it and that came through just as cameras were rolling.

i think that ryan needing love could be the answer. no one has really said "i love you" to him for a long time. at least in the first two seasons. the only person who said it to him was amanda and ryan let her go. ok, so wilfred said he loves ryan but he's a dog and that not quite the same. ;)
