Title: Critically Acclaimed!
Post by: deenan on November 09, 2009, 09:27:07 am

just recently, elijah was named as having the best critically acclaimed track record for his films over the past decade. :D

here's the chart that lists him along with other LOTR actors.

if you want to read about the process of selecting the actors you can read it here: TRACK RECORD (http://www.movieline.com/2009/11/which-of-these-stars-has-the-best-critical-track-record-in-hollywood.php)

Thanks for the info and link Deenan. Much as I love Elijah, I do find that slightly surprising - in a good way of course! Actually a really interesting list - there are people further down that I would have expected to have been nearer the top. Congrats to Elijah though - what a huge achievement! :)

i agree. it's very surprising, but elijah chooses films not for the star power or that will rake in tons of money. it's about the story and as he's said many times, something that he feels connected with even challenging himself.

i remember when eternal sunshine was out and was overwhelmed with critical praises. same for sin city, but in that case elijah himself was singled out many times as being one of the best things about the movie. everything is illuminated, though not a wide release, was very well respected. it was named one of the top 10 films of 2005 by the national board of review.

as much as i dislike critics, i can't think of one film he was a part of in the past 10 years that just fell flat and every critic in the business panned it. not one.

And it seems to have paid off, which is great.

there are a good chunk of his films that have mixed reviews here as well. 9 just recently, but not one has been slammed over all.

as much as i can recall, north has been that film that has a ratio of 8:1 of bad reviews but that was years ago so it doesn't count. ;D the movie 9 has been more like 2:1.

I suppose that's true. Either way, good for Elijah - it's nice to see that even though he maybe isn't the most mainstream of actors, e's taking care with choices.

another very good article was brought to light about elijah. (will post that eventually) i absolutely love this quote they said about him.

"He follows Hollywood's golden rule: work a lot without breaking a sweat."

he'd rather be part of an ensemble than the lead or be the lead in an indie. he's had at least one film released ever year but one since he started in the business. and he seems to pick the good ones. :)
