Have you tried reading Harry Potter? Because I hate fantasy books, but Harry Potter is just...wonderful! LOTR may be hard to read at first, but I think it's good once you get used to him putting in a lot of details...

i have never met one person whose read Harry Potter (at least the entire first book) and didn't like it. thats why the series is one of my favs (along with LOTR).

my other favorite books are The Rose and The Beast by Francesca Lia Block, Kissing the Witch by Emma Donaghue, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle, The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, and The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Ooh, that's sweet, the seeing stone! I've studied arthurian legends and literature and this is one of a trilogy right? There are two parts and he still has to write part three. If anybody likes historic or a bit fantasy kind of stuff, you should really read the Merlin trilogy by Mary Stuart. It's amazingly well researched and accurate as well as magically written.

My favorite books?
My number one favorite is Green Rider by Kristen Britain. :) It is a wonderful fantasy type book. I am very excited because the long awaited sequel is coming out in Aug. ;D As soon as I see it I'm going to buy it.
I also like Tolkien, the Harry Potter books, the Cat Who mysteries, the mysteries by Rita Mae Brown and other mysteries, I also like some hisorical fiction and non-fiction sometimes too. If you haven't gussed already I do a lot of reading!

My all time favorite book is "Memiors of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden, I have heard reports of a movie being made and would love that, but the book is still a must read. Golden writes so poetically, and the story really makes you believe in life, believe in your self, an believe in true love. I read it at a young age, but it still remains one of my favorites, and I have probably read it 10+ times.
Another one of my favorites is "Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver, I don't like any of her other novels but this one is a classic, and so well written, I can relate to it, mainly because I too have relationship issues with my father, and it just spoke to me, the whole book is fantastic, and it may be long, but every page is worth reading over and over.

the book is about a kid named chris that just disappears but leaves an email to the school principal saying that he wished that he was somebody else like the popular people and that ppl would stop picking on him. he disappears but ppl just start pointing fingers at eachother to say whose fault it is. some say its his mother who never gave him a chance of freedom and others say who's picked on him and pushed him around.but one of the ppl on his list of being someone else, torey adams, is trying to find him to help save someone else from trouble of going to jail. Torey's friends turn their back on him and his life turns into a mess. you get hanged on to the book to the very last 2 words, i mean seriously you don't know the ending till the last 2 words.
