Title: Inkworld Trilogy
Post by: Lanta the Gemstar on February 02, 2009, 09:25:03 am

Has anyone here read any of the Inkworld series by Cornelia Funke?

The first book is called Inkheart and has been recently made into a movie with Brendan Fraser as one of the leads.

Yes, I read the first two books (they came out here a long time ago) and I'm in the middle of the third one now. I haven't seen the movie, I think I wouldn't like it cause Brendan Fraser as Mo just seems so weird to me ::)
Anyway, I love the books!

I've no real opinion either way about Brendan Fraser, lol! ;) Glad you are enjoying the series Kathi... a friend of mine recommended it (funnily enough, she's also called Kathie :o)... and I just wanted to see what others thought :)

I've read the first two, but I think I've kind of outgrown them - I read them when I was younger and they're not really my thing anymore. I re-read Inkheart recently and thought it was OK...but didn't think enough of the series to rush out and buy Inkdeath, I'll wait til it comes to the library, lol.

I haven't seen the film either - it's already gone out of the cinemas here. Have you seen it Gem? Was it much like the book?

No Mary, I've not seen the movie yet... or even read the books. I was going to read the series on a recommendation from a friend, but do you think it's a bit too juvenile...?

Don't forget, this is coming from a 40 yr old who ADORES things like Harry Potter, Bridge to Terabithia etc. LOL! ;D 8) :-[

Sorry, that's not what I meant, I phrased it badly. I meant they're not really my cup of tea anymore. I'd give them a go though. :)

^^^ Yeah Carina, I could never start a series with the second book for that reason. Most of the time a reader needs that initial character development and crucial plot details from the original story in order for following volumes to make sense.

My local library also has the problem of popular books being unavailable for long periods of time ::) Ex: I put my name down on a list for "Twilight" before Christmas, and had time to buy the book, read it, hate it, and go see the movie too... all weeks before a copy was finally available at the library! :P
