Title: Battle of the Famous Literary characters!
Post by: Lijlover16 on August 18, 2003, 01:44:32 am

I thought it would be interesting to start some arguments about who would beat who in a battle. For example, in the unlikely case that these 2 would argue, who would win in a fight between Gandalf the Grey (not white yet) and Albus Dumbledore?

Then I say,"I hate to say it, but Gandalf would kick Dumbledore's arse in a middle eath minute."
then one of you might couter with something like "You fool, can't you see how superior Dumbledor is to that old coot!"
And then the argument will ensue.

Sounds like fun, huh? ;D

OK, so let's start with The Dumbledore and Gandalf, and when that get's old, do something different.

but why? How? Dumbledore is the most powerful wizard of the modern day, and Gandalf was imortal centuries ago.

because gandalf helped rid the world of evil. dumbledore sits about and lets a 14 year old boy do all the work for him!

because gandalf's power doesn't have time limitations....time means nothing to him, it doesn't affect him.....plus, he has defeated enemies the likes of which dumbledore has never seen.....

Yeah, has Dumbledore ever had to face anything like a Balrog? Anything so ancient and evil that the very King of evilness himself created it? Lol. Dumbledore only has to worry about Voldemort.. and he's not immortal, by any means. He does not really even have control over much, as Sauron did. I think I'd perhaps go with Gandalf on this one, too.

aragorn would come and beat the crap out of dumbledore......no, i'm sure gandalf would have a spare......besides, he can do stuff w/out it. he doesn't necessarily need it to do magic.......like dumbledore needs his wand, seriously, it's like a crutch.....

Title: Re:Battle of the Famous Literary characters!
Post by: geekyelf on August 20, 2003, 09:49:58 am

Yeah...if Dumbledore didnt have his wand what could he do? Nothing! Mwhahhaa....

lol, although i'm firmly rooting for gandalf, dumbledore can do things without his wand too. JKR doesnt really go into it an awful lot tho...

I think gandalf would win, his powers are more ancient so that they surpass any wand, and I also think that gandalf's knowledge is bigger.

dude, gandalf took down a balrog when he was only grey! but dumbledore is also cool....who says they have to battle?? i reckon dumbledore and gandalf would be good drinking buddies! they'd sit over a pint and a pipe and help to sort out eachothers problems ;D

gandalf could help dumbledore get rid of voldemort once and for all (lets face it, voldemort is a total p*ssy) because gandalf is rather gifted at bringing down the forces of evil. dumbledore, who seems to enjoy defying authority, could give gandalf a few pointers on how to sort out saruman the white too - so it would all be good!

i havent read artemis fowl, but ive heard he's a very crafty 12 year old criminal mastermind, so i reckon he would win. although harry is cool he seems to get by on pure luck or chance a lot of the time.

I agree that Gandalf and Dumbledore would probably make good friends.
Though I think Harry would beat Artemis. Artemis would give him a run for his money as he is a genious and harry can hardly pass a few of his classes, but harry has magic and bravery and heart on his side. the only way Arty could even have a snail of a chance is if holly helped him, though I'm sure you don't know he she id, do you ::)

Who you think will win between Dobby(one of the characters of Harry Potter) or Gollum?

Title: Re:Battle of the Famous Literary characters!
Post by: maryd on September 08, 2007, 04:24:49 am

I think Gollum - he seems more devious than Dobby, and more willing to be evil and cunning and underhand to get his own way, and I reckon Dobby would play fair!

I'd have to think Harry Potter would beat Artemis Fowl, though - he can do magic, after all. Artemis needs his gadgets.
